According to results, total expenditures for the largest U.S. corporate law departments were up "significantly" with internal costs led by lawyer compensation outpacing external expenditures. The survey also includes data on expenditures on outside counsel, criteria in choosing outside counsel, outside counsel evaluations, evaluation criteria, billing arrangements, and staffing. The survey includes data from 144 companies, reported by sales revenue, number of corporate employees, industry type and law department size.
