Quantum Corp. (NYSE:QTM), San Jose, Calif., a global specialist in
backup, recovery and archive, has announced that Autodesk, Inc., will
resell Quantum's StorNext File System. The world leader in design
and entertainment software, Autodesk will begin offering Quantum's
open file system to enable Autodesk's media and entertainment
customers to more effectively share digital content across Autodesk
visual effects, editing, finishing and color-grading technologies. By
enhancing this workflow collaboration, Autodesk can help customers drive
down costs, reduce the amount of duplicate data hosted on
direct-attached storage and simplify integration into digital
intermediate pipelines, post production and visual effects.
"Customers taking advantage of the combined Autodesk
applications and StorNext software are able to greatly reduce project
times, while dramatically increasing workflow collaboration," said
Billy Russell, manager, solutions architects for Autodesk Global
Services. "Before forging this relationship with Quantum, a team of
Autodesk engineers thoroughly tested the StorNext File System in
real-world environments and were pleased with the superior performance
and resiliency of the high-speed data sharing workflow solution."
Leveraging Quantum's StorNext(R) software with Autodesk's
suite of media and entertainment systems,(1) customers gain
high-performance and resilient connectivity from SAN and LAN
workstations, creating a consolidated storage pool which applications
can access over highly scalable, low-latency data paths. This enables
digital artists to simplify complicated distributed environments, reduce
capacity requirements and create content loaded with visual effects,
finishing, color grading and animation.
"By joining forces, Quantum and Autodesk help customers reduce
the amount of duplicate data hosted on direct attached storage,"
said Shawn Klein, director of software partner development for Quantum.
"The bottom line is that customers not only save money but are able
to simplify their workflow and increase collaboration across 3D
workstations, graphic stations and more."
In addition to delivering high-performance content, Autodesk's
suite of media and entertainment products, along with StorNext's
data sharing capability, can help reduce the overall time required to
create, finalize and distribute content. For customers that need to
retain finished products cost-effectively, StorNext Storage Manager
offers an optional data movement component that transparently moves and
protects content on lower-cost tiers of storage.
