Akrion, Inc., Allentown, Pa., a supplier of semiconductor surface
preparation equipment, recently received orders for two GAMA automated
wet stations. The systems will be used by a major supplier to the flat
panel industry. Flat panel displays are used for televisions, GPS
devices, iPods, cell phones and other common devices.
The first of the two GAMA systems will ship later this year. The
GAMA system will include Akrion's proprietary i-Clean in situ
cleaning technology. i-Clean allows manufacturers to execute a complete
RCA-type cleaning process in one tank by combining six process/rinse
functions. Particle removal is thereby enhanced since fresh chemistry is
used for each batch and particle- inducing air interfaces are minimized.
The system also uses Akrion's LuCID low IPA consumption dryer to
negate water marks, as well as a proprietary tile transfer system.
The second GAMA is scheduled to ship in Q1 2008.
James S. Molinaro, Akrion President and CEO stated, "We are
excited to take our proven technologies and branch out into a new
market. Our flat panel cleaning system will reduce the overall cost of
production."
