edutech launches complete pilot plant training system for the oil and gas sector at gess 2008

Leading learning solutions provider offers hands-on training solutions in line with Nationalisation goals

Edutech Middle East, a leading provider of technology-enabled learning solutions, has announced the launch of its complete pilot plant training system for process plant operators in the oil, gas and petrochemical industries at the Gulf Educational Supplies Show 2008. This is in line with the company's aim to provide interactive and hands-on technical training in accordance to the goals of the 'Nationalisation Program'. The three-day event, which was opened yesterday (January 22, 2008) by H. E. Dr. Hanif Hassan Ali, UAE Minister for Education at Madinat Jumeirah Convention Center, Dubai, will witness a showcase of Edutech's new pilot plant offering, among other real-life industrial training systems, and workshops underlining the benefits of advanced eLearning facilities.

With the drive of the 'Nationalisation Program' further intensifying the demand for skilled operators, organizations are facing a huge challenge in developing skilled manpower that meets the industry standards. Bridging the gap in the oil, gas and petrochemical industries in terms of developing a well-trained skilled workforce, Edutech's range of pilot plant training systems covers mechanical, electrical, instrumentation and process operation. This includes intensive courses in process control, extraction, distillation column, gas absorption, water treatment, chemical reactors, hydrocracking, LNG and GTL.

Commenting on the launch of Edutech's solutions, H. E. Dr. Hanif Hassan Ali said, "It is very important for teachers and educators to attend such conferences where the best technologies are being launched and demonstrated. It is a wonderful sight to see the exhibit hall full of new products, supplies and programs that have been developed to enhance the learning experience for students and teachers. Learning from the best practices being implemented across the world and integrating it into our education sector is of the essence to develop students who are prepared to take on the challenges of a dynamic, global environment."

"Due to the exceptional economic and industrial development in the region, we are witnessing a significant movement focused on developing local talent as part of the aggressive efforts of governments across the region to ensure the success of the 'Nationalisation Program'," said ASF Karim, CEO, Edutech. "We have identified the Gulf Educational Supplies Show as an important platform to launch our technology-enabled training solutions and demonstrate the expansive advantages of our complete pilot plant training systems. Our aim is to leverage the attendance of representatives from leading colleges, universities and training centres through our significant presence at this event."

In addition to its range of complete pilot plant training systems for the oil and gas sector, Edutech's participation at GESS also marked the launch of its Telecommunication Instructional Modelling System (TIMS), a unique learning technology, which facilitates effective communications laboratory experiments. Designed in accordance with the 'block diagram', the universal language of telecommunications, TIMS will enable students to manipulate real electrical signals in real time, thereby enhancing their understanding of the modulation process. Providing learning flexibility to both students and professors alike, the state-of-the-art solution can be easily incorporated into existing curricula, and gives instructors the freedom to adjust the level of complexity of the lessons.

"We believe that the emergence of more specialised and technologically-forward learning equipment and solutions is the first and probably one of the most important steps towards absorbing more local talents into the UAE's important business and industrial sectors. By providing a rich supply of training resources from introductory to advanced laboratory coursework, we can expect significant improvements in the curriculum as well as in the overall performance of both students and instructors. Our continuous efforts to provide outstanding training systems stand as a testament to our position as a leading provider of learning solutions in the region," concluded Karim.

Further augmenting its wide array of top-of-the-line learning systems, Edutech also offers 'scitech' solutions, which encompass top-of-the-line hardware and applications to equip science and engineering labs with industry-standard vocational and technical training aids. This includes a robust modular training system for power electronics, generation, transmission techniques, which could operate with a SCADA system from Terco. In addition, Edutech also presents TINA Design Suite by DesignSoft, which is a powerful yet affordable software package for analyzing, designing and real time testing analog, digital, VHDL, MCU, and mixed electronic circuits and their PCB layouts.
