Alves named executive vice president: Timberline
Guitars.
ED ALVES, FORMERLY director of domestic sales for Taylor Guitars,
has taken on the role of executive vice president of Timberline Guitars
after a three-year hiatus from the music industry.
"When you've been in this business for over 25 years,
dating back to my retail management days at Guitar Showcase in San Jose,
California, then moving on to district manager positions with both
Yamaha and Fender, it's something that just becomes a big part of
your life," says Alves. "I truly missed the excitement and the
many great friends in the industry that I have made over the
years."
Alves, who referred to his hiatus as a chance to reflect and
appreciate the arrival of three grandchildren, says a small magazine
article about Poway, California-based Timberland I guitars is what
started him on the road toward his new position.

"I was impressed by what I saw and read, decided to do a
little research, and discovered that the company was virtually fight
here in my own backyard," he says. "Rob Smith, the president
and founder of Timberline Guitars, has done a terrific job of designing
and bringing these guitars to the market. Rob and I hit it off the first
time we talked. What started as a consulting arrangement eventually
worked its way into my becoming a partner in the company. We're
both very excited to be working together, and we are looking forward to
expanding the network of Timberline Guitars owners and dealers within
the market."
Timberline Guitars will be introducing their new T-Series lineup of
premium solid wood acoustic guitars at winter NAMM in Anaheim, booth
1800.
