Technologies.

INTRODUCTIONS
MU TECHNOLOGIES' native vocal processing plug-in, Mu Voice,
allows the user to tune vocals and add natural-sounding harmonies when
mixing a track. The proprietary spectral analysis of Mu Technologies
provide a unique tool for the recording studio. Its internal delay of
only 5.8 ms makes Mu Voice the ideal vocal processor to perform live on
stage.
The main application of Mu Voice is real-time harmonization. The
incoming voice is analyzed and a second and third voice are added in
real-time without any offline preprocessing. Mu Voice's
"intelligent" harmonization algorithm analyzes musical context
(chord and scale) and a built-in chord scheme editor allows the user to
define sequences of chords that the plug-in can follow.
Mu Voice also has a built-in tuner that can tune the lead voice in
chromatic or scale mode. The tuner's impact is parametric, allowing
the user to trade accuracy and expressivity of the pitch.
Mu Voice produces up to four voices, each represented by a channel
in the interface. On each harmony the following effects can be applied:
Pan creates a realistic spatial position by introducing an
inter-aural delay and gain based on psychoacoustic measurements.
Humanizing prevents the perception of tightly-couple harmonies as a
single distorted voice by adding very slight random pitch variations and
an additional delay.
Formants determine the "timbre" or "color" of
the voice. When the pitch of the voice is altered, the formants are
maintained. The formant slider controls a linear scaling of the formants
and alters the color of the voice. By shifting the pitch up and scaling
the formants, gender changes can be achieved.
Filter Presets include include high-pass, band-pass, comb-filters,
and notch filters.
Mu Voice's chord scheme enables users to add chords to not
only the scheme, but also the presets. Chords can be updated and presets
applied. Mu Voice has a built-in sequencer that allows for complete
automation of chord scheme navigation.
The introductory price of Mu Voice is $199, instead of $259. Demos
will be given at NAMM. In Europe Mu Voice will be introduced at the
Frankfurt Music Messe, booth D98.
