INTRODUCTIONS
ROCK HOUSE, a leader in music instruction, is announcing the
release of two new instructional programs on DVD featuring Freekbass.
Legendary bassist and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Bootsy Collins
calls Freekbass "the new spiritual warrior for the funk." Rock
House's new Learn Funk Bass program takes a two-step approach. The
DVDs are designed to give players an inside look at the techniques that
make up Freekbass's unique style and help develop a solid
foundation for playing funk bass and an understanding on how to fuse
funk playing with other styles of music.
With Level 1 students learn left and right hand technique and the G
major scale, then quickly graduate to key funk elements like slap &
pop, thump, pluck, groove, and timing. They will learn octaves and how
to put major & minor triads into full progressions. With Level 2
students learn to develop their own creativity, fuse funk and blues
scales, techniques like hammer-on grooves and funky right hand
variations, key elements like the Dorian thump mute groove, double
thump, ghost-note percussive technique, and multiple position scales
spanning the entire neck.
