Underlining the ongoing air transport market boom in the Gulf region, Airbus came away from this year's Dubai Air Show with a total of 163 firm orders from 10 customers worth over $28 billion at list prices. The total included the company's largest order ever--70 A350 XWBs and 11 A380s for Emirates. Yemenia signed up for 10 A350s. DAE Capital committed to acquiring 30 A350s, while C Jet Limited of Hang Kong became the first customer for the VIP version of the aircraft, the A350XWB Prestige. By the end of the show, total firm orders for the type stood at 276 from 11 customers. A private A380 was ordered by HRH Prince Al Waleed Bin Talal of Saudi Arabia. The Airbus Single Aisle Family booked 66 firm orders and commitments for a further 101 aircraft, including 20 from NAS, 70 from DAE Capital, 22 from Saudi Arabian Airlines, 34 from Air Arabia, nine from Nile Air, eight from Air Blue, and four from private customers. Also, Oman Air placed a firm order for five A330s.
