Henningsen building new warehouse to serve Portland
market.
Henningsen Cold Storage is building a 5.3 million cubic foot
temperature controlled logistics center in Gresham, Oregon, USA, to meet
growing demand from customers in the greater Portland metropolitan
market.
Construction began in November, and completion is set for this
summer. The Gresham facility will be situated less than a mile from
Henningsen's existing Portland operation at Exit 13, off Interstate
84. Phase I will offer at least 16,000 pallet positions, with a variety
of configurations and temperature ranges. The eventual size of the
facility will be nearly 10 million cubic feet.
The center is designed specifically for high-volume throughput,
with a flexible racking design and layout enabling Henningsen to meet a
variety of customer requirements including case-pick consolidation and
cross docking of temperature-controlled food products. Henningsen
Transportation Services will augment the operation by offering local,
regional and nationwide transportation services to manufacturers, retail
and foodservice distributors, and international customers utilizing the
facility.
"This is the first new logistics center Henningsen has opened
since 1999, and it will be a new generation facility with maximum
flexibility and utilization to meet our ever growing and diversifying
customer base," said Tony Lucarelli, vice president of Henningsen.
Headquartered in Hillsboro, Oregon, the company operates full
service, temperature-controlled logistics centers in Oregon, Washington,
Idaho, North Dakota, Oklahoma and Pennsylvania.
