Keep Farming First summit set.
"For Love of the Land" is the title of this year's
Keep Farming First (KFF) summit to be held at the Penn State-Great
Valley campus on Feb. 14. The summit has become a regional event, open
to farmers and consumers.
A full day of major presentations and breakout sessions will focus
on REAP tax credits; health department guidelines for farm markets; land
preservation choices; the value-added aspects of carbon sequestration;
and energy efficiency. Keynote speaker Matt Roberts, Ohio State
University, will discuss energy needs and the multi-level challenges
farmers face today. As usual, the breakfast, lunch and reception will
feature locally produced foods. Pennsylvania mushroom growers are
sponsors of the event and mushrooms will be available to take home.
KFF is the product of a partnership among Chester County 2020, Penn
State Cooperative Extension-Chester County, Chester County Economical
Development Council and Chester County Agricultural Development Council.
