78.
John A. Chernak joined Tomlinson Industries in 1957. He became
president of Tomlinson in 1966 and continued in that capacity through
1994. In 1995 Chernak became chairman and was a senior
"special" advisor from 1996 until his retirement in December
2003.
Chernak passed away peacefully at St. Mary's Hospital in
Neveda with his wife, Arlene, by his side. In addition to his wife,
Chernak also leaves behind four daughters and six grandchildren.
Since 1967, Chernak had been active in the North American
Association of Food Equipment Manufacturers (NAFEM) as a board member
from 1987-1996, treasurer in 1990-1991, vice president in 1992 and in
1993 served as NAFEM president. Chernak was a certified foodservice
professional and during his career he received a variety of awards for
various activities related to the commercial foodservice equipment
field.
