Morgan & Claypool (San Rafael, CA), a company that serves the
information needs of the global research and development communities in
the engineering and computer science fields through an online e-book
series, the Synthesis Digital Library of Engineering and Computer
Science, will expand to include a Life Sciences division beginning in
early 2009.
The new publishing program will retain the same electronic format
and will focus on the such subject areas as: cellular and molecular
biology, neurosciences, biotechnology, genetics, genomics, systems
biology, stern cells, proteomics, structural, communication and
computational/bioinformatics, among others. Pricing has not yet been
set.
The company's Synthesis Digital Library of Engineering and
Computer Science is a digital collection of 50-100 page lectures that
summarize relevant research or emerging development in engineering and
computer science. Content covers a wide range of topics including AI and
machine learning, biomedical engineering, signal processing,
environmental science, energy, computer architecture, materials and
devices, power electronics and RF/microwaves, among others. Individual
reports can be purchased for $35-40 each. The Library was launched in
2005.
