Dolan Media Company (Minneapolis, MN), a provider of information
and services to the legal, financial and real estate sectors, has
acquired "The Mecklenburg Times," an 84-year-old court and
commercial newspaper, from Legal and Business Publishers Inc.
(Charlotte, NC), a company owned by the Kurie family since 1971. No
terms of the deal were given.
The acquired title is published twice weekly and is targeted to a
paid circulation of attorneys, legal aids, realtors and real
estate-related professionals, bankers, brokers, insurance executives and
a range of other business owners in Charlotte and the surrounding area.
It is available in both print and online.
The title is a newspaper of record specializing in the publication
of public notices and legal ads as well as public records such as real
estate sales transactions, civil suits, building permits (residential
and commercial), liens, new businesses and corporations and criminal
court calendars. It also carries commentary and analysis from staff and
state and local officials on current state and national issues as well
as developments in investments, real estate, health and fitness.
Dolan said the newspaper joins other Dolan legal publications in
the Carolinas, including "North Carolina Lawyers Weekly."
Other Dolan properties include "Mississippi Business Journal"
(Jackson, MS), New Orleans Publishing Group (New Orleans, LA), Lawyers
Weekly, Inc. (Boston, MA), Legal Communications Corp. (St. Louis, MO)
and Counsel Press (New York), among others.
