Q I'm looking for APE-and NPE-free surfactants for my waterborne formulations. How can I effectively evaluate my options?

A Environmental toxicity concerns associated with NPE and APE surfactants are causing many formulators to seek effective alternatives. Fortunately, there are readily available, environmentally preferable technologies, and the removal of the NPE and APE surfactants can be easily accomplished.

To help, Air Products offers a free 3-pack rack sample kit plus a USB drive with product and usage information. The rack includes Carbowet[R] 106 and Carbowet 109 surfactants (designed to perform like common 6 and 9 mole NPE and APE surfactants) as well as Carbowet DCO? surfactant (for replacing modified APEs with an HLB of approximately 11). Based on linear alcohols, Carbowet surfactants do not have the environmental concerns associated with NPE and APE products, and they will also enhance the performance properties of many formulations.

Contact us at www.airproducts.com/ carbo or 800-345-3148 to get your free 3-pack rack sample kit.
