Phillips Mushroom Farm recognized.
Phillips Mushroom Farm of Kennett Square, PA was recognized as the
PA Preferred Member Company of the year in January at the 2008 PA Farm
Show in Harrisburg. "The PA Preferred program was developed to help
Pennsylvanians identify and purchase locally-grown and processed foods
and goods, opening new markets to small farms and processors while
growing the state's economy," said Agriculture Secretary
Dennis Wolff. "We're proud to recognize Phillips Mushroom Farm
and thank them for their outstanding contribution to the PA Preferred
program."
Phillips, a third-generation family-owned business, markets more
specialty mushrooms than anyone else in the United States. Leaders in
the mushroom industry, they recently went through the U.S. Department of
Agriculture's Good Agricultural Practices audit process, a thorough
safety inspection system.
The PA Preferred branding program was launched in January 2004 by
Governor Edward G. Rendell to help market state-sourced food products
and goods manufactured and processed in the state. More than 1,500
members have enrolled to date.
