Elsevier Science (New York), through its Elsevier Health publishing
unit, has acquired Windhover Information, Inc. (Norwalk, CT), a
healthcare information company that produces analysis and commentary on
healthcare business strategy, industry mergers and acquisitions,
alliances, marketplace trends, and medical start-ups. No terms of the
deal were given.
Established in 1989, Windhover produces a range of print, online
and in-person resources for the healthcare, pharmaceutical,
biopharmaceutical and medical device industries. The company publishes
four periodicals, including: "In Vivo," a monthly journal that
carries news and information for the biopharma, med-tech, diagnostics
and hospital supply industries ($1250 per/year); "Start-Up: Review
of Emerging Medical Ventures," a monthly journal that profiles new
product companies and carries information for the pharmaceuticals,
biotech, hospital supply, medical equipment and in vitro diagnostics
industries ($1350 per/year); "The RPM (Regulation, Policy &
Market Access) Report," a monthly journal that carries information
on the regulatory and policy issues that impact market access ($1550
per/year); and, "Medtech Insight," a newsletter published ten
times a year to carry information on medical technologies impacting the
range of orthopedic, cardiovascular, surgical and related markets
($1350).
Through its MTI Reports unit, Windhover also produces custom
reports on sector devices, technologies, procedures and global
companies, annual guides and references, a series of conferences and
summits, and a comprehensive database of healthcare industry
transactions (Strategic Transactions Database). Windhover will operate
within Elsevier's Pharma Business Intelligence unit, which includes
F-D-C Reports (Rockville, MD) and Inteleos (Elizabeth, NJ), a drug
development database company.
Elsevier Health includes medical book and journal publishers W.B.
Saunders (Philadelphia, PA), Mosby (St. Louis, MO) and Churchill
Livingstone (New York).
