Jones & Bartlett Publishers (J&B; Boston, MA), a producer
of books, references, testing and assessment services, and training
materials for the public safety, medicine, nursing, allied health,
health administration and public health sectors, has acquired Compact
Clinicals (Kansas City, MO), a medical publisher of psychiatric and
mental health educational materials and assessment scales. No terms of
the deal were given.
Established in 1995, Compact Clinicals publishes a wide range of
diagnostic and treatment resources for medical professionals and
pharmaceutical companies as well as for patients and families coping
with mental disorders. It produces mental health books, assessment
tools, patient education materials, and branding solution for
pharmaceuticals in such areas as Alzheimer's disease, ADHD, bipolar
disorder, borderline personality disorder, conduct disorder, depression
in adults, metabolic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post
traumatic and acute stress disorder and schizophrenia.
J&B CEO Clayton Jones said "the titles published by
Compact Clinicals are a natural complement to J&B's already
outstanding list of professional resources in this field." J&B
said the acquisition is the latest development in a series of
initiatives that "have quickly positioned J&B as a leader in
medical publisher," including partnerships with the American
urological Foundation Association, Lahey Clinic, the National
Comprehensive Cancer Network, and the American Cancer Society.
J&B publishes books and related materials in 17 main
categories, including criminal justice/law enforcement, emergency care,
mathematics, computer science, fire, electrical, medicine, nursing and
public administration.
