Ecology and AI journals from
Springer.
Springer Science + Business (New York) has begun the publication of
four new quarterly journals, including three that cover various aspects
of the field of ecology.
"Evolutionary Intelligence" is a new international
journal focusing on the publication of information on the theoretical
and practical aspects of the use of population-based search for
artificial intelligence (AI). Content covers topics such as evolving
rule-based systems, evolving artificial neural networks, evolving fuzzy
systems, artificial immune systems, and hybrid systems that combine
evolutionary computation and related AI techniques.
"Theoretical Ecology" is one of three Springer new
journals in the field of ecology. It publishes research and articles in
theoretical ecology, including ecophysiology, population ecology,
behavioral ecology, evolutionary ecology, ecosystm ecology, and
ecosystem and landscape ecology. The premier issue includes articles on:
a general theory of ecology; network structures; alternative stable
states in host-phage dynamics; and, spatial patterns of coexistence of
competing species.
"Bioenergy Research" focuses on the area of feedstock
biology research related to biomass, biofuels, and bioenergy, Content
includes a combination of disciplines that all share common focus on
feedstock biology and science and carries article, research, commentary,
industry news and government policy updates. The first issue includes
articles on: the ecological impact of bioenergy projects; biogas
production; the economics of ethanol production; and, farm-scale
production cost of switchgrass for biomass.
Finally, "Biosemiotics" publishes papers on biological
theory from a range of disciplines, including social semiotics,
community ecology, communication science, artificial intelligence,
organic manufacturing, molecular semiotics, and, sensing and cognitive
processes.
