According to a survey conducted by the American Academy of Dermatology, the nation's capital may rightly claim the mantle of top sun-safe region. The AAD sent a questionnaire to adults in 31 U.S. metropolitan areas regarding knowledge and practice of sun-safe behaviors; the senators, spies, and sundry other citizens of the City That Never Sleeps (Late) earned the top spot. It was emphasized that this is not because Washingtonians are always chained to their desks or stuck in their cars during the daylight hours. However, one recalls that sunbathing on the banks of the Potomac was banned by the FAA because the reflections were blinding the eyes of pilots landing planes at Reagan National Airport. Good thing--because you don't want to see Ted Kennedy and Fred Thompson in their Speedos.
