Also to be released in March, "Child Sexual Abuse"
evaluates the development of policy and legislative measures to control
sex offenders. The book argues that increasing media coverage involving
the abduction, sexual abuse and murder of young children over the last
10-15 years has led to increasingly punitive legislation regarding the
punishment and control of sex offenders and that those measures are
"reactionary." Chapters include an overview and definitions of
child sexual abuse and coverage of public confidence in the current
system, the role of the media, the legislative framework and its history
since 1954, and the ongoing criminal justice response. Published by
Routledge (London/Philadelphia, PA), the book costs $48.
