At our third annual Women of Power Summit hosted by State Farm,
more than 700 professional women were inspired to network, share, and
develop strategies for effectively managing the unique challenges
minority women face in corporate America. The sold-out event at the La
Quinta Resort & Club near Palm Springs, California, hosted C-suite
executives and savvy entrepreneurs who offered personal advice and
insight that focused on subjects including workplace politics, emerging
business trends, and management techniques as well as emotional
well-being and financial coaching.
The event opened with our annual Legacy Awards dinner honoring
corporate pioneer Ann M. Fudge, renowned poet Nikki Giovanni, activist
Dorothy I. Height, and Academy Award-nominated actress Ruby Dee Davis.
Other high-profile attendees included BET co-founder Sheila Johnson,
Girls Inc. CEO Joyce M. Roche, and Anucha Browne Sanders, who won $11.5
million in her sexual harassment settlement against Madison Square
Garden and New York Knicks President Isiah Thomas. Entertainers Brian
McKnight and Jill Scott serenaded the guests at night. For a
