Metalcasters and suppliers from around the world will gather in
Atlanta, May 17-20, for CastExpo'08, the largest metalcasting
exposition in North America. The four-day event, sponsored by the
American Foundry Society (AFS) and North American Die Casting
Association (NADCA), will be held at the Georgia World Congress Center.
Held every three years, CastExpo draws more than 450 exhibitors
showcasing the latest research, newest technology and most up-to-date
process information. The more than 160,000-sq.-ft, show floor
accommodates the newest industry equipment, and attendees will be able
to see machinery and products first-hand that could improve their
operations.
CastExpo'08 will be held in conjunction with the 112th
Metalcasting Congress. The Congress sessions will include more than 200
technical and management presentations given by experts from across the
globe. Topics will cover copper, magnesium, iron, aluminum, melting,
engineering, diecasting, lost foam, environmental health and safety,
human resources and marketing. Special sessions, such as "Small
Foundry Forum" and "Becoming a Green Foundry" also will
be offered.
Other events unique to the Metalcasting Congress include the
Charles Edgar Hoyt Memorial Lecture, given this year by Joseph
Carpenter, Jr., U.S. Dept. of Energy, on "Freedom Cooperative
Automotive Research (FreedomCAR) and Casting: Research and Development
of Cast Automotive Components," the AFS Town Hall meeting and a
Casting Answers & Advice session.
Aside from the show floor, CastExpo provides networking
opportunities to metalcasters with a number of special luncheons and
dinners for AFS and NADCA and their divisions.
The newly elected AFS and CMI officers and directors will be
introduced to the industry at the AFS President's Luncheon and
Annual Business Meeting. Winners of the 2008 Casting Competition and
Millionaires Safety Award also will be announced at the AFS
President's Luncheon, as well as the Scientific Merit award,
Service Citations and AFS/CMI Director's award. The AFS Gold Medal
will be awarded at the AFS Annual Banquet.
