Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority to sponsor Art in
Motion
Atlanta's Office of Cultural Affairs partnered with the
Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) this past fall to
sponsor Art in Motion, which supported five artists and their respective
crafts.
The artists each submitted five images that were installed in City
Gallery East and on the side panels of 25 MARTA buses during the same
five-week period. The idea for this dual gallery/public art exhibit came
from one of the artists.
Located on the first floor of City Hall East, the 8,000-square-foot
City Gallery East is one of the largest exhibition spaces in the city.
Dedicated to presenting contemporary fine art, the gallery's
primary focus is on Atlanta-based artists. The gallery sponsors
exhibitions that provide greater exposure for community initiatives.
