CHILDREN in Northumberland are being urged to become sound
detectives as part of National Walk to School Week, which starts on next
Monday.
The week coincides with Noise Action Week so they are being
encouraged to listen on their walk to school for interesting sounds they
would not normally hear if they were travelling by car.
Almost 100 schools in the county will be taking part.
Sarah Brierley, travel plan co-ordinator for Northumberland County
Council said: "Walking to school is a great way for children to
keep fit as well as learning about road safety issues.
"I am looking forward to finding out about the things they
have heard to and from school."
