We agree: It's not nice to leave someone stuck in a CT scanner for 5 hours. But that's what happened to Elvira Tellez, whose technicians at the Arizona Oncology Associates apparently forgot about her and went home for the night, according to a report from the Associated Press. Apparently, it took "hours" for the 67-year-old to slither out of the machine from under the heavy blanket. When Ms. Tellez finally freed herself, she found the place dark and empty. She called her son first, and then the police. What piques the Bureau of Indications' interest about this particular story is the following: "Pima County sheriff's deputies arriving at the oncology office had her unlock the office door to let them in." In other words, Ms. Tellez's freak-out could have been solved by simply walking out of the clinic, which was, naturally, able to be unlocked from the inside. Ah, yes, maybe some patients are easier than others to "forget" in a CT scanner. Ms. Tellez has said she won't return to that clinic. We think that's probably for the best.
