The Greensboro, N.C., Police Department has added another
interactive tool to its Police to Citizen (P2C) website--the ability to
determine if a person is wanted on outstanding charges. Since its launch
in December, 2005, the website has become a popular tool for gathering
police information online. Visitors to the site can conduct simple
searches, download reports and report non-emergency incidents.
The technology saves fuel and time for citizens, since reports can
be printed at any time from a convenient location. P2C saves the
department money by providing information directly to citizens rather
than having it prepared by crime analysts. Prior to P2C, citizens had to
go to a police station to obtain copies of accident or incident reports.
With the addition of information about outstanding warrants, Chief
Tim Bellamy says the website has become an even more effective tool to
help fight crime. "By using P2C to find information about
outstanding charges, Greensboro residents can more effectively
participate in keeping the community safe," he said.
