NCA elects new chairman and board members.

Jonathan T. Feuer, president of L. M. Zuckerman & Company was elected chairman of the National Coffee Association (NCA). Feuer brings more than 30 years of coffee industry experience with him including the last 18 years as president of the company, a supplier of soluble coffee products to world markets with a primary focus on North America.

Feuer's term as chairman of the NCA will be for one year. He takes over the chairmanship from Joseph Apuzzo, president of the Armenia Coffee Corp. The Board also elected Dub Hay, senior vice president of Starbucks as the new vice chairman and Klass van der Kaaij, CEO of Rothfos Corp. as secretary. Hays appointment is for one year and Van der Kaaij's election is a two-year term.

Additionally the following members of the NCA were also elected to the board of directors. Joe Apuzzo, president of the Armenia Coffee Corp.; John Boyle, CO0 of Massimo Zanetti Beverage, USA; William Cortner, director of edible ingredients purchases of the Folger Coffee Co.; David Dallis, president of Dallis Coffee; John DeMuria, managing partner of Volcafe USA; Richard Emanuele, president of Coffee America (USA) Corp; Richard Etkin, executive vice president of Mercon Coffee Corp; ; Bruce Goldsmith, president of Baronet Coffee Inc; Lorraine Hansen, senior vice president & general manager, U.S. coffee for Kraft Food North America; Tom Hayes, president of Sara Lee Foodservice; Pat O'Dea, president and CEO of Peets Coffee and Tea; Kevin Petrie, chief purchasing officer of Nestle USA; ; and Tullio Vigano, president and CEO of Fres-co System USA, inc. All of the board members were elected for two-year terms with the exception of Tom Hayes who was elected for a one-year term.

The NCA, established in 1911, is a trade organization for the coffee industry in the U.S. A majority of NCA membership, which accounts for over 90% of U.S. coffee commerce, are small and mid-sized companies and include growers, roasters, retailers, importer/exporters, wholesaler/suppliers and allied industry businesses.
