Wanted: nominees! Call for Board of Trustees and
Networking Leadership Council positions.
IIE is seeking nominees for various positions to be filled. Members
who are elected to the Board of Trustees are required to attend four
meetings per year. Spring, summer, and fall meetings are held at IIE
headquarters in Norcross, Ga. An additional meeting is held at the site
of the IIE Annual Conference and Expo. In addition, BOT members
participate in monthly conference calls.

Below are brief descriptions of each position that membership will
vote on in the next election, slotted for December. Elected
representatives take office in April 2009.
Board of Trustees positions
President-elect is a three-year position during which the elected
individual transitions from president-elect to president to past
president. The president-elect is responsible for long-range
organizational planning for IIE, sponsorship activities, financial
affairs, and acting as IIE's chief financial officer. This
individual assists the president as required, serves in the absence of
the president, and ultimately assumes the duties of the president during
the second year and the immediate past president in the third.
Senior vice president, academics is responsible for focusing on
strengthening relationships with the academic community, acting as a
liaison between the BOT and the Council of Industrial Engineering
Academic Department Heads, and managing alliance activity and
professional activities such as the Accreditation Board for Engineering
and Technology and professional registration. During the three-year
term, the senior vice president of academics also assists the president
in the overall administration of IIE and acts for the president in all
relations with Institute officers, directors, and others reporting to
them.
Senior vice president, continuing education assists in the overall
administration of IIE with a focus on continued professional development
that includes all IIE conferences. During the three-year term, the
senior vice president of continuing education works with other
professionals and professional organizations to ensure that IIE offers
relevant, comprehensive, and up-to-date training, skill/career enhancing
experiences, and certifications. The senior vice president of continuing
education assists the president in the overall administration of IIE and
acts for the president in all relations with Institute officers,
directors, and others reporting to them.
Senior vice president, chapter networking is primarily responsible
for initiating, strengthening, and expanding IIE's chapter
communities and managing their interface with the society, division, and
interest group networking communities. The senior vice president of
chapter networking serves for three years and works directly with the
senior vice president of technical networking to co-lead the Networking
Leadership Council. The senior vice president of chapter networking
assists the president in the overall administration of IIE and acts for
the president in all relations with Institute officers, directors, and
others reporting to them.
Networking Leadership Council positions
Vice president, technical networking is part of the Networking
Leadership Council and reports through the senior vice president,
technical networking. (Note that IIE is seeking two vice presidents of
technical networking.) During the two-year term, the vice president of
technical networking is responsible for representing a subset of
technical networking communities, providing support for networking
community leaders and working closely with them to foster strong
relationships between the communities, members, and IIE as a whole.
Region vice presidents serve two-year terms on the Networking
Leadership Council. They represent the needs of chapters in their
region. They are responsible for providing support for chapter leaders
and working closely with them to foster strong relationships between the
chapters, regions, members, and IIE as a whole. Region vice presidents
report directly to the senior vice president of chapter networking.
Nominations are sought for representatives of three regions:
* Region 2, representing chapters in Virginia, North Carolina,
Tennessee, and South Carolina
* Region 4, representing chapters in Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, and
Kentucky
* Region 6, representing the chapters in North Dakota, South
Dakota, Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois
