SHS conference prescribed ... keynoters, intensive
workshops energized attendees.
Keynote speakers Laura Adams, president and CEO of the Rhode Island
Quality Institute, and Joseph Duhig, senior vice president of the Juran
Institute and Juran Healthcare, roused professionals and students alike
at February's Society for Health Systems Conference, addressing
areas such as quality improvement, manufacturing, telecommunications,
financial services, education, and insurance.
Conference attendees packed educational sessions, keynote
presentations, vendor exhibits, and networking events to learn new ways
to bridge clinical, operational, and financial performance in their
day-to-day operations. Topics in patient safety, lean production, work
simplification solutions, and strategic planning for patient care
excellence dominated both the professional and student activities.

Perhaps one of the most bustling places to be at any given time was
the Exhibit Hall, which served as a lighter atmosphere flowing over with
paint and laughter. Attendees joined the Foundation for Hospital Art to
create a mural to be donated to the Ochsner Clinic in New Orleans in
hopes of "softening the hospital environment."
