Franchise industry expert Julie Bennett authored with educator Cheryl Babcock, CFE, The Franchise Times Guide to Selecting, Buying and Owning a Franchise, a book filled with advice and best practices on how to buy and run a franchise.

Bennett gleans the real-world advice and examples from hundreds of interviews she has conducted with franchisees and franchisors for the book. The result is practical advice on finding the right franchise fit, conducting a search, investigating before investing, Discovery Day, obtaining financing, franchisee training, build-out and opening.

Bennett is a freelance journalist who has been reporting on franchising for the past 15 years. Her articles on real estate, employment and diversity issues appear regularly in advertising sections of the Wall Street Journal.

Babcock, CFE, is the founding director of the International Institute for Franchise Education in the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and Entrepreneurship at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

The guide is published by Sterling Publishing, and is available online at Barnes & Noble.
