The Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) states recently invited bids
for the final phase of a project which links their electricity stations
in a single grid, following completion of the first two phases. Oman and
the UAE have already completed their own electricity grid, while the
second phase involving four other members is nearing completion,
The Global Investment House in early May said in a report the third
phase, which will link the southern and northern grids, will complete
the inter-connection of all GCC countries by end-2008.
