DR JOSEPH LANGLEY and Dr Alaster Yoxall have joined Sheffield Hallam 0114 225 2811 renowned C3RI research centre. Both are currently developing computer simulations of the human hand to better understand grip strength, grip choice and skin friction in relation to 'openability' and 'squeezability' and the ease with which the elderly and disabled can access foodstuffs or medicines.

Both Langley and Yoxall bring with them unique expertise in product and packaging design with a strong emphasis on sustainability and the environment.

Langley works in the field of sustainable design, using packaging as a vehicle to carry forward research and consultancy in two areas of social and environmental sustainability.

Yoxall has recently joined C3RI as a research fellow. His main research interest is the theme of inclusive design, whereby products and services can be better matched to the needs and abilities of the less able in society whilst having a broad benefit for that society as a whole.
