Participants at the 2008 Congress of Cities will be in Orlando,
Fla., to develop professionally and to bring back tangible benefits to
their communities. To enhance that experience, this article offers some
ideas for creating a local leader's experience of Orlando and
Orange County Florida.
While in Central Florida, explore how local governments are using
public spaces to promote and preserve that community's history,
culture and environment. Beyond the theme parks, visitors can build
their own "mobile workshop" and explore what their community
can learn from how Central Florida governments are leveraging civic,
economic and cultural resources.
Learn more about these and similar educational opportunities at the
Orlando/Orange County Convention & Visitors Bureau Inc. website at
www.visitOrlando.com. Visiting some sites may require a car rental. Maps
are available at the website.
The website also features a planner function to allow visitors to
build their own itinerary based on available time in two-hour to one-day
segments. The planner can be reached at www.orlandoinfo.com/
itinerary/at-a-glance.cfm.
