Matamec explorations appoints new VP exploration for Ontario.(IN BRIEF)

Matamec Explorations Inc. has announced the appointment of Bill MacRae as the company's vice-president, Exploration Ontario.

MacRae will help the company advance its existing projects and evaluate new Ontario projects, particularly in the Timmins gold camp, where Matamec has a handful of exploration efforts.

As a professional geologist and mining consultant, MacRae has more than 30 years of experience, having worked with Newmont Mines Ltd., Pamour Porcupine Mines Ltd. and Kinross Gold Corp./Placer Dome Inc., all in the Timmins area.

He also created and oversaw programs for the Porcupine Joint Venture which added more than 300,000 ounces of gold resource between 2002 and 2006.

MacRae also serves as the vice-president of the Porcupine Prospectors and Developers Association.
