Jonathan Bailey, founder of Portsmouth-based messenger bag maker
BaileyWorks, has sold a minority stake in the company. The business has
reincorporated as BaileyWorks Inc., and is now owned jointly by Bailey
and his wife Emily, and Gary and Toni Smith. Jonathan Bailey will
continue as BaileyWorks's president and head of design. Gary Smith,
former president of The Timberland Company's outdoor group and
current owner of Independent Fabrications, a Somerville, Mass., custom
bicycle frame maker, will serve BaileyWorks in an advisory capacity.
Toni Smith will act as financial controller. Emily Bailey will serve as
