The magazine earned a first-place award among all newspapers and megazines in the contest for best local coverage of a national business/economic story with "Human energy crisis: the business case for imported labor." The July 2007 package included stories by freelancers Eric Peterson and Eric Barendson and a ColoradoBiz editorial.

Managing Editor Mike Tayfor earned a second place award in the magazine division for "best personality profile" for his December "CEO of the year" cover story on Chipotle founder Steve Ells.

Tayfor won a first place award last year for his "Small fries" feature on mom-and-pop hamburger restaurants.
