Sault steelmaker wins arena naming rights.

Northern Ontario Business • August, 2008 • IN BRIEF

Essar Steel Algoma Inc. have taken over the arena naming rights for Sault Ste. Marie's sports and entertainment centre.

The local steel producer succeeds bankrupt Steelback Breweries which defaulted earlier this year on its installments to the City of Sault Ste. Marie.

Essar is paying $1.5 million up-front and for new signage.

The renamed Essar Centre is the down town home of the Ontario Hockey League's Sault Greyhounds.

The Mumbai, India industrial giant purchased the Sault Ste. Marie steel company in 2007.
