B&DFL, a manufacturer of chutneys, relishes and sauces, has chosen depositing and filling specialists Riggs Autopack to provide a complete turnkey solution to meet increased demand.

A quick response from Riggs Autopack, that had already assembled and installed the entire production line within eight weeks, enabled B&DFL to successfully fulfil the expectations from a major supermarket multiple, as well as being able to achieve higher speeds and improved machine control.

Riggs Autopack supplied B&DFL with a versatile Model 1000 fully automatic single head filling machine, to fill glass and plastic jars and bottles with up to four tonnes of product per day whilst coping with various viscosities and particulate sizes.

The machine copes with various container sizes via a simple to use gating and no container/no fill sensing system.

The turnkey solution, which was assembled and tested at Riggs Autopack in Nelson prior to delivery, comprised of the filling machine, 'twist off capping machine, in line metal detection and induction sealing.

A Riggs Autopack mobile transfer pump completed the line to provide auto top up of the feed hopper on the filling machine.

This entire system was designed with mechanical and control interlocks between component parts to provide B&DFL with a simple and highly effective automatic line.

Having used Riggs Autopack, for the supply of a transfer pump B&DFL chose the company again because of its successful past experience and Riggs Autopack's excellent reputation within the industry.

The customer is particularly impressed with the rapid changeover time, the machine's ability to handle large particulates, ease of cleaning and simplicity in use.
