Packaging Automation's vision is best of British.

When Lincolnshire Field Products needed to boost production to meet increased demand from a leading UK retailer, buying quality, British made equipment was an important factor in its decision to purchase a third tray sealer from Packaging Automation.

Packaging Automation supplied a Vision 400 to seal the extra thousands of packs of cauliflower florets, broccoli florets, purple sprouting broccoli, and mixed vegetables supplied to Asda stores throughout the UK every week. It is the third Vision 400 tray sealer in operation at Lincolnshire Field Products.

Reducing costs while coping with the extra capacity, reliability and previous experience of Packaging Automation's excellent after-sales service were other factors for Lincolnshire Field Products, which boasts a turnover of around 85m [pounds sterling] per year and farms in excess of 11,000 acres.

Operations manager Steve Bates said: "We needed a machine which was reliable and able to cope with the increased capacity, while at the same time keeping costs low. The Vision 400 meets all this criteria and of course is British made, which was another important factor. We have used Packaging Automation before and we did not need to look elsewhere."

The new machine is sealing 12,000 packs of vegetables a day and Bates is impressed by its performance. He said: "It is working well. It is operator friendly and the back-up service from PA has been excellent as always. I would definitely recommend them to others."

The fully automatic Vision 400, one of Packaging Automation's latest tray sealers, is suitable for packing a wide range of products with or without MAP. It offers quick and easy tooling and product changes, and benefits from a touch sensitive control screen. It is capable of sealing plain or printed film to any compatible container including cPET, APET, aluminum foil, polypropylene, PVC and board. The sealed machine bed and stainless steel guarding ensure hygiene and ease of cleaning.
