New frontiers for Eurotek.

Food Trade Review • July, 2008 • NEWS AND INSTALLATIONS

One of Europe's manufacturers of freezing and chilling systems is celebrating its 20th anniversary with the announcement contracts for installations in three new export markets: the United Arab Emirates, Ireland and Austria - further increasing its foothold in international markets.

"We are delighted that food manufacturers from more countries than ever before are choosing Eurotek equipment - success we attribute to our custom built approach and customer service," said Eurotek managing director Roger Smith.

"We already have machines in far flung corners of the world - from Iceland to Australia - and it is great news in our 20th year of trading to be crossing more new frontiers. We have also strengthened our team of overseas agents and are looking forward to a busy year both in the UK and abroad," he added.

Meat, ready meals and potato products are being handled by the three latest overseas installations. In Austria, Eurotek engineers had their work cut out with limited site access and just 14 days to install an IQF line to handle fried potato products.

"It was a major operation and we had to use our wealth of design experience when it came to manufacturing something that could be installed in a very short period and with restricted space. A normal installation for a freezer of this size would be in the order of six to eight weeks," said Smith.

In the UAE, the Eurotek challenge was to design a spiral freezer to handle both raw and cooked meat products - including burgers and sausage meat chubs. Key features included a comprehensive CIP system to thoroughly sanitise the system and extensive use of stainless steel. In Ireland up to 3,800kg of ready meals are being chilled by a Eurotek twin drum spiral chiller.

"After 20 years of manufacturing bespoke freezing and chilling systems, we continue to pursue new markets and technology. The food industry is continually developing new products which present a challenge to system designers such as ourselves. The current emphasis on carbon emission reduction is presenting a new challenge and we are currently working on a freezing system which utilises the benefits of the thermo syphon principle - to reduce power consumption and ultimately carbon emissions," added Smith.
