Redpack goes to Latvia to pack
sandwiches.
Redpack Packaging Machinery, the Norfolk-based manufacturer of
rugged, high quality flow wrapping machines, has made its first sale to
Latvia.
The Hotshot 2/40 carton wedge sealer will be used by a sandwich
manufacturer based in Riga to supply a range of pre-packed sandwiches to
roadside petrol filling stations operated by a number of companies
throughout Eastern Europe.
Pre-packed sandwiches from petrol filling stations is one of the
convenience foods which is taken for granted here in the UK, but in many
of the Baltic countries which only recently joined the European Union,
such snack and convenience foods are still a relatively new, and fast
growing, consumer experience.
The innovative Hotshot 2/40 twin lane packing line is capable of
sealing 2,400 sandwich wedges per hour. It is manufactured in stainless
steel and its IP65 rating means it can be hosed down for cleaning.
Hygiene is further enhanced through the provision of numerous access
hatches which facilitate a thorough yet easy clean down at the end of
each working shift.
European companies are now starting to take their environmental
responsibilities very seriously and, to this end, Redpack Packaging
Machinery has incorporated a unique power saving feature into the
Hotshot 2/40. The machine's heater elements automatically reduce in
temperature when the machine is left for any length of time, thereby
helping the company to reduce its carbon footprint.
Redpack's Steve Crow said: "Countries such as Latvia are
investing heavily in their manufacturing infrastructure and the need for
food and fresh produce packaging systems is growing as consumer demand
increases. I am hopeful that we shall now be able to generate further
new business in Latvia and the surrounding countries."
