Starfrost forecasts big freeze in Chile.

UK-based freezing and chilling equipment specialist Starfrost is celebrating a major boost in installations completed by its team in Chile.

Starfrost is a manufacturer of custom designed industrial freezers and has recently developed a significant number of bespoke solutions for the global seafood processing market.

Every hour, an estimated 10,000kg of seafood is processed by Starfrost equipment less than two years old. A large proportion of this capacity is being processed ill South America, where tile company has supplied a number of very specialised equipment solutions.

Starfrost's South American office has been based ill Santiago, Chile since 2000 and the branch is managed by Rik Hubbard, whose father originally established Starfrost in tile UK over 20 years ago.

Rik Hubbard of Starfrost (Chile) said: "Seafood processors m this region are extremely demanding m terms of high quality systems. They also demand bespoke equipment that allows them to process a variety, of products.

"One spiral freezer that we recently designed and installed in Chile features both horizontal and vertical airflow. This gives tile client tile flexibility to process a range of different products using one system."

Recent seafood processing projects specified and installed by Starfrost (Chile) include:

A Helix Spiral freezer for St Andrews on the Island of Chiloe, in the 10th region of Chile. The system is designed for half shell vacuum packed mussels and oysters; A second Helix Spiral tot Invertec on the Island of Chiloe, for processing salmon; A salmon freezing system for Multiexport in Puerto Montt, in the 10th region of Chile; A double drum Helix Spiral installed for Camanchaca, near Concepcion. The system is freezing 4,000kg/hr of salmon fillets.
