Culina Logistics, the multi-temperature food and drink supply chain
specialist, is set to open its major new chilled distribution centre at
Haverhill Business Park in Cambridgeshire on August 4th.
The 191,000 sq ft (17,740 sq m) warehouse will operate 24-hours a
day servicing the needs of retailers supplying consumers with a wide
range of chilled goods from leading food and drink manufacturers.
On a 12-acre site, the facility features 25 dock-level loading bays
and has space to house 75 tracks and trailers.
It's strategic location supports suppliers bringing in product
from mainland Europe and pro vides enhanced supply chain services across
the South East.
Culina provides ambient and temperature-controlled shared-user
supply chain solutions for many of the leading branded and niche
products fmcg manufacturers across the UK.
Operating a network of eight distribution centres, the award
winning company has a turnover in excess of 125m. [pounds sterling] Due
to its continued success it has grown significantly over the last 14
years.
With a reputation for delivering very high pick accuracy rates, the
new site will feature a 'state-of-the-art' warehouse
management system to constantly monitor and update customer stock
levels.
"Haverhill has made excellent progress and the new site will
ensure we continue to provide customers with a robust supply chain
service throughout the UK," said Rien Brakel, group operations
director at Culina.
Creating around 350 new jobs when the new site becomes fully
operational, Culina will then employ in excess of 1,650 people in the
UK.
