DHL Exel Supply Chain, the world's leading logistics services
provider, has won Sainsbury's depot of the year award for the
fourth consecutive year. The DHL Emerald Park site in Bristol with
approximately 900 employees has been named as a centre of excellence for
delivering consistently high levels of operational service to leading
food retailer, Sainsbury's.
This award was presented to DHL for maintaining excellent service
standards and for achieving and exceeding key performance indicators set
out with Sainsbury's. DHL demonstrated 'project
excellence' in testing of new initiatives and trialing innovations
with plans to roll them out across the network. DHL has worked closely
with Sainsbury's across the operation, with a number of managers
based at the customer site.
DHL has held the contract with Sainsbury's since 1984 and
currently has 48 percent of the company's logistics services
business. This includes operating a manual fulfilment factory at Emerald
Park for ambient and chilled products and other retail goods. In
addition, DHL operates sites for Sainsbury's in Allington,
Charlton, Stoke and Langlands Park.
