PFM Packaging Machinery has launched an exciting new piece of
equipment, the BG2800 Zip, a high speed multi-die flowrapper for
producing zip packs. This latest variation of the popular BG2800 machine
represents a major advance for the UK flow packing industry and is aimed
at the food industry.
This product development from PFM has not gone unnoticed by the
cheese industry where several leading UK cheese producers have already
placed advanced orders for it.
Ideal for meeting increased demands for product differentiation and
improved point of sale appearance from supermarkets, the BG2800,
produces three side hermetically seal packs with longitudinal zips as
well as standard "pillow packs" and "easy packs".
Purpose built for high speed packaging--with speeds of up to 150
packs per minute, the BG2800 Zip flowrapper produces gas flushed packs
with airtight seals, which retain product freshness, whilst creating an
aesthetically pleasing pack appearance.
This mechanised zip feature allows different types of readily
available laminate wrapping materials to be used increasing the
versatility of the style of packs that can be produced.
A free standing frame carries a reel of zip which is fed into the
zip applicator, which is mounted adjacent to the former where a series
of rollers transfer the zip profile to meet the film.
Heater bars are mounted beyond the roller feed and seal both the
film and the zip as they travel towards the end multi die crimp seal
unit.
Not only are customers benefiting from this added revolutionary
technology in terms of flexibility and improved pack appearance but they
are also gaining increased productivity through quicker changeover
times.
BG2800 Zip machines all have state-of-the-art electronics for
accurate control, a rotating multi die crossways sealing systems, with
prolonged sealing times and a longitudinal linear sealing assembly,
which provides smooth sealing.
All BG2800 models have the same fundamental mechanical
characteristics. The most impressive feature is their rotating multi-jaw
system which assures airtight seals and high wrapping speeds. The
BG2800, manufactured in AISI 304 stainless steel can also be easily
cleaned.
PFM's sales and operations director Chris Bolton said:
"The launch of the BG2800 Zip heralds an exciting new era for
packaging processes. The BG2800 offers a number of significant benefits
including improved product freshness and increased packaging
flexibility. PFM is confident that many more food companies will start
to package their products with the added feature of a zip closure for
increased flexibility and to meet retail demands."
