At CeMAT 2008 in Hanover visitors saw Univeyor's new container
unloader, the Empticon, demonstrated for the first time at any Show.
Naturally Kaj Christensen had high hopes of the demonstration.
"The Empticon aroused interest and many were able to see some
wide-ranging perspectives for the introduction of Empticon at their
businesses, too."
Visitors to the fair were given a unique opportunity to see how
easily and quickly a container could be emptied and loaded
ergonomically.
The Empticon is a newly developed container unloader worked by a
single operator, who is able to operate all the functions of the machine
remotely via a wireless control panel. Seven suction cups are used to
lift the cartons onto a belt and remove them automatically from the
container. This avoids all the high, low, awkward and heavy lifting that
otherwise characterises the work of emptying containers and trailers.
At CeMat this year, Univeyor chose to focus on two heavyweights in
the world of ergonomics and improving the efficiency of goods flows. In
addition to the Empticon, there was the Layer-Picker which can empty and
pack pallets fully automatically.
The LayerPicker is able to pick up whole layers from pallets at a
speed that will revolutionise the goods flow in most warehouses and
distribution centres. The LayerPicker can handle products of widely
varying size, weight and shape - even if there are gaps in the layers.
The LayerPicker has shown itself capable of handling more than 95
percent of products that supermarkets and warehouses typically stock in
their ranges.
