Using the same approach they used in their book Engineering
Mathematics, the authors of this text present mathematics in a step-
by-step fashion together with a wealth of worked examples, exercises,
quizzes, learning outcomes, and skills checklists. The book contains
lessons called programs, with each program divided into numbered
sections called frames. In almost every frame, students are expected to
demonstrate their understanding, with correct answers given in the next
frame. Coverage progresses from linear and simultaneous linear equations
through linear transformations. The book can be used in the classroom or
as a stand-alone tutorial. Stroud is a former professor at Lancaster
Polytechnic (now Coventry University). Booth is a former lecturer at the
University of Huddersfield, UK.
