In this context, assessments are the vehicles by which the
scientific community translates its technical findings into a form that
policy makers can understand and make use of. This study is not
concerned with either the underlying science nor the resulting policies,
but analyzes conditions that contribute to successful assessments,
measured as how well the fundamental facts and patterns are conveyed.
Climate change dominates the case studies, but one of them looks at
global biodiversity. There is no index.
