Constituting an English translation and second edition of the Flora
Reipublicae Popularis Sinicae (FRPS), this volume is part of an
impressively comprehensive series that will number 25 volumes when
complete. The present volume contains the illustrations for all the
family Poaceae, grasses, which, of course, includes bamboo. The
illustrations are b&w line drawings, superbly rendered and presented
in full-page plates in a slightly oversized format (8.75x11.25").
The drawings depict all parts of the plant and are accompanied by a
descriptive caption that includes the scientific name, Chinese name,
pinyin name, and reference to bibliography. Four indexes are provided:
by Chinese name, Pinyin name, scientific name, and an index to the
families in the series and in FRPS. Co-published with Science Press
(Beijing).
