This toolkit contains seven booklets, a CD-ROM of screening forms,
and a DVD with four case-study videos, all packaged in a sturdy
cardboard holder, for use in creating individual, group, and family
counseling interventions that can be used with young people up to age 25
in community or residential settings in Asia's Greater Mekong
Subregion. The booklets offer step-by-step instructions and practical
guidelines for assessment and action planning, stages of change and
motivational interviewing, individual, group, and family counseling, and
relapse prevention planning. The four case studies featured in the
booklets and the additional five case studies on the video all
illustrate the many factors associated with the development of substance
abuse by young people in the region. The kit can be used for training
counselors of varying backgrounds and different ages, including peer
counselors, as well as social workers, administrators, and others who
work with young drug users in community or residential settings.
